Collection: Saturday
Collective formed by Inés Iglesias (Salamanca, 1978) and Natalia Suárez (Laviana, 1976).
On Saturdays, they like to have a late breakfast, drink Camparis, eat pizza, rewatch Ally McBeal, and have sex, for example. On Saturdays, they also like to make animal masks with unexpected color combinations. As if a megachromatic cosmos overflowing with M had spat in those foxes' faces.
All of Sabado 's creations are unique pieces. Natalia begins the process of serial reproduction using a mold, casting white clay entirely by hand. Once the pieces have dried, they undergo a first firing, or biscuit firing. Inés hand-paints each mask, using colored slips and glazes with effects, bringing each character to life. The process concludes with glazing and kiln firing in her own workshop.
Obviously this could only happen on a Saturday .
