PAPER CITIES series 50 x 50 x 4 cm., paper (collage).
"Cities have always been considered symbols of the greatness and power of the Human Being. The need to dominate and subdue nature to promote comfort has been taken to the extreme, moving it further and further away from our daily lives. We have created a “bubble effect” where our perception of reality has been deeply affected.
The Human Being has ceased to be human, to become an omnipresent, dominating and transforming God. He must no longer compete with nature to survive, but with other gods like him, in a fierce struggle to accumulate material goods and comforts. But this is an illusion, although we feel safe in our concrete paradises, it is the hand of nature that truly supports us.
We must learn to look beyond the bubble, recover our role in the balance of nature and appreciate the comforts that are offered to us at their fair value. If we continue like this, we will discover that our great cities are as fragile as paper."
